mare The Marche has 180 kilometres of coastline, with splendid beaches of golden sand, shingle or rock, picturesque bays, tourist ports and green palms that look down onto the surface of the Adriatic.
biblioteche This region is the clear expression of a cultural pluralism that has built up over the centuries, where numerous examples of artistic excellence have made the Marche one of Italy’s most culturally rich regions: 500 piazzas, more than 1000 important monuments, 37 strongholds, 106 castles, 15 fortresses and 170 towers, thousands of churches of which 200 are Romanesque, 96 abbeys, 183 sanctuaries, 72 historical theatres – all restored and running, and 315 libraries.
sibillini 2 national parks, 4 regional parks and 4 natural reserves. Over 10% of the region is protected: the Sibillini Mountains, Gran Sasso and the Laga Mountains, Sasso Simone and Simoncello, Gola della Rossa and Frasassi, Mount San Bartolo and Mount Conero, Abbadia di Fiastra, Torrichio Mountain, the Furlo Gorge and Ripa Bianca: all magnificent protected areas that show off the beauty of life in the Marche region.
borghi From the Apennine chain and on to the shores of the Adriatic Sea, the Marche region is just waiting to be discovered: stunning villages and towns, where history, culture, breathtaking views, and excellent foods and wines where typical, traditional produce continues to be made with the same time-honoured production and conservation methods.
enogastronomia Some have had European Community recognition. DOP-certified products include: Casciotta cheese from Urbino, Prosciutto from Carpegna, Ascolana Olives from Piceno, and Vitellone dell'Appennino (breed of cattle, used for meat).
